Finding The Right Real Estate Agent

Should You Live Near the Beach? a List of Pros and Cons

Living right on the beach is a dream that many people share. However, the reality of buying a beach home deserves some real consideration. Here are some of the pros and cons of living directly on the beach.

Pro: Ocean Views Every Day

If you look at beach homes for sale directly on the coast, you are basically guaranteeing yourself that you'll be able to see the ocean every single day. Many people move to a beach city and think that they will get to the beach very frequently, but jobs and family obligations get in the way of making it to the ocean. With beach side property, you don't even have to leave your home to get to the ocean.

Con: The Cost

However, you'll pay for the privilege of living directly on the beach. Even homes that are a block or two away from the beach can be hundreds of thousands of dollars cheaper, so consider whether the ocean view is more important to you or whether you'd prefer the amenities that the extra spending power could bring you, such as additional bedrooms and more space.

Pro: The Demand

Another great thing about being right on the beach is that your property will almost always be in demand. You will have the option of using it for high end vacation rentals, which can pay for the difference in cost if you do it often enough. Everyone loves to be in a beautiful beachfront property.

Con: The Demand

Demand for beach time can also be a con if you live near a public beach. You might have a lot of traffic around your property as people are trying to get to the beach. Some people do not like being right on the beach, because the public can potentially see your activities, especially if you have a patio or backyard that faces the ocean. Of course, there are some ways to get around this, such as putting up high fences and having your windows tinted so that people can't see into your home as easily.

As you can tell, there are many things to consider when you're looking at beach homes for sale. Since it's such a big investment, you'll probably want to discuss the pros and cons with a real estate agent to make sure that beach homes are where your heart really lies. They are a fabulous choice for many buyers.
