Finding The Right Real Estate Agent

Three Reasons Your Home Might Not Be Selling

If your home has been on the market for quite some time, you might be wondering what is going wrong. Rather than accept that no one is interested in buying your home and leaving it on the market, it's better to get down to the true reasoning behind it. Here are three reasons that are most commonly found:

  1. The House Is Priced Too High: While you do want to sell your home for the maximum amount of profit possible, it won't be worth it if your home sits idle on the market not selling at all. The reason behind this is it's commonly found homeowners price their homes too high, much above market value. When a buyer is looking at homes in your neighborhood, they are going to choose that one that sits at the market value price over one that is priced way above that. Buyers know that a home listed above market price probably isn't going to be easy to negotiate on either. Talk with a real estate agent to get a better rough estimate of how much your home should actually be priced for.
  2. The House Has Too Many Little Problems: Even a buyer looking into buying a fixer-upper home isn't going to want to buy one that has too many little problems that are going to take away from their time in getting to fixing up the bigger issues. These little problems include light bulbs that aren't working, small roof damages, cracks in the walls, and more. All of these things are things you can easily fix on your own without spending too much money and that will even allow you to list your home for a higher price. To appeal to all buyers, you should even consider updating outdated hardware, such as the doorknobs on the kitchen cabinets. All of these little fixes can really make a huge difference.
  3. Poor Advertising: One of the main reasons to hire a real estate agent when selling a home is because of their power over advertising. Real estate agents services know of all the best sites to list the home for sale. On top of this, they likely have the right following on their social media accounts along with the use of the right keywords. The biggest advantage is that real estate agents are also going to hire the best photographers to take photos of the home to add along with the listing. The better quality photos, the more interested potential buyers are going to be.

These are just the top three reasons your home might not be selling. It's worth looking into these little issues while also consulting with a real estate agent if you don't have one already.
