Finding The Right Real Estate Agent

Recommendations To Help In Your Home Search And Purchase

The search for the right home is a big prospect, but one in which you can make plans for the future and update your lifestyle to provide you a place to make roots in a community. As you start out working with a realtor, there are some considerations you should think about and prepare for in order to have a successful home search and purchase. Here are some tips to help you as you proceed forward with a home purchase.

Check Your Budget

As a first step to buying a home, make sure you understand exactly how much you can afford. This starts out with applying for a mortgage to get pre-approved for a lending amount, then looking at how much you have saved as a down payment. In addition to the down payment, how much do you have to put as an earnest money deposit on the home, and how much will you be able to apply to the home's closing costs?

Evaluate the mortgage interest rate you can qualify for, which gives you an estimate of your principal, interest, taxes, and insurance on the home. Then, be sure you calculate in any mortgage insurance if you are not able to put twenty percent or more down on the home.

Find Realistic Amenities

The other details with shopping for a home include what the home has to offer, such as its features and the property around the home. The home you choose will need to provide you with the conveniences, features, and shelter that you need while filling in for the things you want.

Look at the size of the home and its square footage, especially in the main living space and on each individual floor. You may want to look for a home with extra storage space, such as in an attic, or even a crawlspace under the staircase if you are buying in an area that does not allow basements. Then, check out the number of bedrooms, bathrooms, and their location relative to one another. Look at the master suite, then at any other bedrooms and guest rooms to make sure there are convenient bathrooms for each.

Check into the garage space. This includes the size of the garage interior area and if the garage is attached to the home or detached in the back or side yard. You may also want to check out the yard size and its landscaping to see if it is something you want to tackle or if you would need to hire a landscape service to help.

If you want a home with a pool, look for one that has the right size and features that you would enjoy. For example, if you want a slide, diving board, or swim-up bar in the pool, look for a pool that has them or the option to add them to the existing pool.
